How to sell a group trip from Instagram when 300 people ask “price?”

To sell a group trip on Instagram, have your answer ready before the reel goes up: dates, price, what is included, seats left and how to book. Reply to every comment and DM within minutes. Move serious travellers to WhatsApp, take a deposit to hold a seat, and follow up with people who went quiet before the seats run out.

Get your answer ready before you post

When a reel takes off, the same question arrives hundreds of times. Write one message that answers it fully:

  • Trip name and dates
  • Price per person, and whether it is twin or triple sharing
  • What is included and not included (flights, meals, entry fees)
  • Seats left
  • The deposit to hold a seat, and when the balance is due
  • How to book: a WhatsApp link or a short form

Send it the same way every time. People compare notes, and different answers to different people cause trouble.

Reply to comments and DMs fast

Interest from a reel fades within hours. Reply to every DM, and to every “price?” comment, as quickly as you can.

Instagram lets a business send a private reply to someone who commented on its post. Under Meta's private replies rules, you can send one message per comment, within 7 days of the comment. If the person replies, you can carry on the chat. Tools that auto-DM commenters use exactly this.

Move serious travellers to WhatsApp

Instagram is good for the first answer. WhatsApp is better for the rest: sharing the itinerary PDF, taking the deposit, sending ID requirements, and the trip group later. Offer a WhatsApp link once someone asks a second question.

Hold seats with a deposit

Keep one seat list, and treat a seat as held only once the deposit is paid. Send a receipt each time. Say clearly what happens to the deposit if they cancel. This avoids the worst problem a host can have: two people who both think they have the last seat.

Follow up before the seats run out

Some people who asked the price meant to book and simply forgot. A follow-up with a real reason works best: the deposit deadline, the date the balance is due, or the number of seats actually left. Never invent scarcity. Your travellers will talk to each other on the trip. Our guide to following up without chasing has more on timing.

Answer the same questions the same way

Write short answers to the questions every group trip gets, and reuse them:

  • Is food included, and is there vegetarian or Jain food?
  • Can I come alone? Will I share a room?
  • Is there an age limit, and how fit do I need to be?
  • What is the refund policy?
  • Who is the trip leader?

After they book

Add confirmed travellers to a WhatsApp group close to the date, not the day they pay. Send a packing list, the meeting point and the balance reminder. A group that feels looked after before the trip often brings friends on the next one.

What Instagram does not allow

You cannot message people who never wrote to you or commented on your posts. Mass DMs to strangers, bought followers and fake comments can get your account restricted. Grow with good content and fast replies instead.

Where an AI agent helps

Socavi's Enquiry Agent answers every DM about your next departure in seconds, in Hinglish too. The Quote Agent shares your itinerary and price the same way every time. The Follow-up Agent nudges everyone who went quiet before seats run out. Deposit links and balance reminders are coming next with the Payments Agent. You stay the face of the trip. Questions

How do I sell group trips on Instagram?
Post the trip with clear dates and price, reply to every comment and DM within minutes, move interested travellers to WhatsApp, and take a deposit to hold each seat.
Can I automatically DM people who comment on my post?
Yes. Instagram lets a business send one private reply to each person who comments, within 7 days of the comment. If they reply, you can carry on the conversation.
How much deposit should I take for a group trip?
Enough to cover what you pay suppliers to hold the trip, stated clearly with the refund terms. Many hosts take a fixed amount per seat, with the balance due a few weeks before departure.
Can I message people on Instagram who never wrote to me?
No. Instagram only lets a business message people who wrote to it first or commented on its posts.
