Connect your Twilio account

Last updated September 12, 2026

Socavi sends SMS through your own Twilio account. You create the account, you own the phone number, and Twilio bills you directly — Socavi never resells Twilio service or sits in the billing relationship. Connecting takes about five minutes.

1. What you need from Twilio

In the Twilio Console:

  • An active Twilio account. A trial account works for testing, but on a trial you can only send to phone numbers you have verified in Twilio.
  • A phone number with SMS capability, from Phone Numbers → Manage → Buy a number.
  • Your Account SID and Auth Token, both shown on the Console dashboard. The Account SID begins with AC.

2. Connect it in Socavi

  1. Open Integrations and find the SMS (Twilio) card.
  2. Enter your Account SID, Auth Token, and your Twilio number in E.164 format (for example +14155550123).
  3. Press Save and verify.

Verifying is not just saving. Socavi calls the Twilio API to confirm three things before it will call the channel connected: that the Account SID and Auth Token are a valid pair, that the account is active, and that the phone number you entered actually belongs to that account. If any check fails, Socavi shows you Twilio's own error message rather than a generic failure.

3. Send yourself a test

Once verified, the card offers Send yourself a test. This sends one real SMS from your Twilio number, billed to your Twilio account, so you can confirm the whole path works before switching the channel on. On a Twilio trial, send it to a number you have verified in Twilio.

4. Turn the channel on

Toggle the SMS channel on. Until it is both verified and enabled, SMS stays unavailable in the Broadcasts composer — Socavi will not offer a channel it cannot deliver on.

How your credentials are stored

  • The Auth Token is encrypted at rest and is never returned to the browser. It is not readable by the Socavi web app, and database access alone does not expose it.
  • The token is written only through the Socavi backend, never directly from your browser to the database.
  • Socavi never displays a stored token back to you. Leaving the field blank when you save keeps the token you already have.
  • Socavi uses your credentials only to send messages you initiate and to verify the connection.

Disconnecting

Switch the SMS channel off in Integrations to stop Socavi sending, or clear the credentials to remove them. Because the Twilio account is yours, you can also rotate the Auth Token or revoke access from the Twilio Console at any time, with no involvement from Socavi. Rotating it there will cause verification to fail in Socavi until you enter the new token.

Registration and compliance

Messaging registration belongs to your Twilio account, because the registered sender must be the business whose name is on the message. That means A2P 10DLC registration for sending to the United States, and DLT registration for India, are completed in your own Twilio account and remain yours. Socavi does not register on your behalf and is not the sender of record.
